Selangor FC will kick off the 2024/25 Unifi Malaysia Cup campaign with the Round 16 first leg match against Sri Pahang FC at the Majlis Perbandaran Temerloh Stadium at 8:30 tonight.

This is the 126th meeting between #SRPSFC. The Red Giants have won 66 matches and drawn 28. In addition, Selangor FC has scored a total of 220 goals from the meetings between these two big teams.

Despite facing challenges in preparing for this match, interim Head Coach, Abdifitaah Hassan, stated that the team has made the best preparations and learned from the previous match to ensure that the team will bring home a positive result for the returning leg.

“Ten days after the match against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC, the league made way for the international break. During this period, we (the coaching staff) have managed and prepared the team to face the first Malaysia Cup Round 16 match tonight against Sri Pahang,” he said.

“We are focusing on load control, especially for the players involved with the national team right after they return to training camp to ensure they are ready for this match and their return definitely adds a positive impact on the team’s mood,” he explained.

“We know that the current volatile weather, especially in Pahang, will be a challenge. However, we have made the necessary preparations, learned from previous matches and we will focused on the dangers that the opposition posed, especially in the set piece situation. I am confident that the team will perform at their best and strive to get a positive result in this match,” said Abdifitaah Hassan positively.

Regarding the players update, Noor Al-Rawabdeh suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, and Mohamad Abualnadi suffered a Bicep Femoris Hamstring strain. Apart from them, the Selangor FC players are ready to be fielded for tonight’s match.

The Selangor FC management is confident that the team will continue to give their best to bring home a good result for the Round of 16 second leg match at the MBPJ Stadium. Let’s go, Red Giants!
